Steve Imhoff is the Board Member for Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) in Louisville, Kentucky. District 2 is one of seven districts in Jefferson County. The student enrollment in JCPS is approximately 96,000. It is one of the largest districts in the country.

District 2 includes Crescent Hill, Clifton, Clifton Heights, the Highlands, part of Buechel, part of Hikes Point, part of St. Matthews and part of Indian Hills.

The schools in District 2 are as follows: Atherton High, Buechel Metropolitan High, Seneca High, Waggener High, Barret Traditional Middle, Highland Middle, Jefferson County Traditional Middle, Myers Middle, Bloom Elementary, Chenoweth Elementary, Field Elementary, Greathouse/Shryock Traditional Elementary, Goldsmith Lane Elementary, Hawthorne Elementary, Klondike Elementary, St. Matthews Elementary, Binet School and Caritas Peace Academy. SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH. At the June 12, 2006 Board Meeting the Board voted to start the search for a Superintendent to replace Steve Daeschner whose term ends June 30, 2007. On Friday April 6, 2007 the Board voted to hire Dr. Sheldon Berman as Superintendent of JCPS effect July 1, 2007. Dr. Berman comes from Hudson city schools near Boston. His record includes many accomplishments in the field of education. July 23, 2007 at 7 p.m. is his first Board meeting.

Hispanic Achievers

Steve Imhoff is chair and founder of Adelante Hispanic Achievers, Inc. This is a program for the purpose of mentoring middle school Hispanic students in Jefferson County public schools. It will commence operation in the year 2005 and operate with offices at the Americana Community Center. Nutrition - Wellness Policy

On August 14, 2006, Steve Imhoff moved to adopt a District Wellness Policy. The amended policy continues the healthy nutrition guidelines for food and beverages in vending machines, after school as well as during school. The motion passed 5 - 2. Thanks to those who spoke out and to Anita McLaughlin in particular.

GENERAL ELECTRIC GRANT - $25,000,000

Great news! On Monday, Septemer 26, 2005 at 1:30 p.m., General Electric officials and JCPS staff met at Cane Run Elementary. General Electric -- National Headquarters -- announced a $25,000,000 grant as a part of G.E.'s College Bound program. Louisville is one of four pilot sites for the program across the United States. The focus will be on achievement in Math and Science, as well as closing achievement gaps and increasing the number of students entering college. Grades 6 and 7 begin in August of 2007.
