WILLIAM AND LAURETTA'S HOGELAND' HOME

Their house had a porch that ran on three sides. The front had a set of steps, while the back was low to the ground and had large flat rock steps. There were 5 rooms. 3 of them were used for bedrooms. there was a dining room, with a built-in canning safe. The kitchen accomidated a wood burning stove, sink, cook table and built-in flour and cornmeal bins. It had dutch doors leading to the back porch where a shelf held a water bucket, and wash pan.
Grandaddy had a little shelf where he kept his shaving cup and brush.
This was not their original house, the older one where their children were born was located further back.
The old house still stands, full of memories, but the porch, except for the back has decayed and gone.
There is still fine pine wood walls inside.
