ARTIST STATEMENT

I have always enjoyed working with my hands, especially making things with wood. I was introduced to woodworking very young by my mother and a couple of my uncles, who where finished carpenters. Throughout my life, I have done all types of work with wood and have grown more and more in love with the beauty of the various types of wood. The last couple of years, I delved into the finer art of woodworking. After taking a woodworking course under Paul Schurch, a master in marquetry and parquetry, I have a new love for wood and expressing the beauty of wood by utilizing the various veneers and then making them become alive in a picture or geometric shape.

The natural beauty of wood reveals itself in many amazing ways. The more I researched the woodworkers/craftsmen’s talents to keep trees alive in their work, the more I desired to be a part of that world. Utilizing a talent that God has given me to use and to create something uniquely different for people like you. I strive to show in my completed pieces, the talents that the Good Lord has given me to enhance the beauty that He has put into his trees.

I am currently offering various items and custom jobs. I desire to place my marquetry and parquetry on simple items that people use everyday, such as: napkin holders, key holders, plaques, boxes and small cabinets. Usually this type of workmanship is only available in large and expensive unique custom pieces. I have a multitude of symmetrical geometric designs in my head and simple pictures to offer for keepsakes. I look forward to making them become alive by using various types of wood veneers and placing the designs on a multitude of items. I also do detailed custom work upon request. When people see my work, I would like them to see the beauty of the wood more than the piece itself, because I want the wood to speak for itself.

Prices are as shown. Custom orders are priced according to item. Actual charges for shipping, handling and tax if applicable will be added for each item. Arrangements can be made for pick up if possible. Please take the time to look at the various pages showing my work.
