Pair of Cardinals (SOLD)
Black-capped Chickadee (SOLD)
These songbird sculptures are carved of basswood with each feather cut in separately and textured with a pyrographic pen. The birds are painted with acrylics using a technique of washes and fine brush strokes to achieve softness and life-like characteristics. Many of the pieces are set in a natural habitat. Bronze, copper, and brass are used to make these environments which are silver soldered. Many of the flowers, seeds bugs, and berries are wood. The free form bases are carved from oak, cherry, or walnut. Feel free to view my photo album. Your favorite bird can be commissioned.
