In keeping with the meaning of its name, “of a willing heart,” Nediv Lev: The Free Synagogue of Atlanta will serve all self-identifying Jews in Atlanta who are seeking an Open, Progressive, and Thoughtful spiritual home. Together, we are the heirs, guardians, and re-creators of a profound and multi-faceted tradition, binding us to all Jews, calling us to stand in awe before Creation, and honoring our commonality with all humankind.

To become an accessible and nurturing place for Jews of all backgrounds to share our stories and the stories of our people.




Nediv Lev’s Values

Openness: Nediv Lev will
· Be supported by free-will donations, and not by dues.
· Be guided by an Advisory Committee.
· Make rabbinic, pastoral care available without fee to any unaffiliated member of the Jewish community.
· Make life cycle officiation available per honorarium to any unaffiliated member of the Jewish community.
· Be denominationally unaligned.

Progressiveness: Nediv Lev will be
· Egalitarian.
· Celebratory.
· Enlightened.
· Healing.
· Creative.
· Pluralistic.
· Community-minded, both Jewishly and generally.

Thoughtfulness: Nediv Lev will
· Focus on adult-level learning.
· Provide private Bar/t-Mitzvah tutorials combined with parent-driven, home-based schooling.
· Organize youth-focused retreats.
· Encourage and rely on lay participation.
