Southern Potters
My Website

My studio that I converted from my father's old wood shop.
At the wheel turning a simple vase.
I was born and reared in Gaston County, North Carolina where I still reside. I am the mother of two and grandmother of four. Having a long time interest in pottery I took lessons at a local pottery shop and Gaston College and quickly became hooked on clay. After working at a local pottery shop and retiring from my job as a teacher's assistant I converted my father's woodworking shop into a studio named the Clay House. Now all my free time is spent making functional and decorative pottery.

I work with mostly mid-fire clay and glazes. All my work is electric fired. I use the wheel and hand build; also a combination of both techniques. Nature is the source of inspiration for most of my work. I guess I'm a selfish potter because I usually make what pleases me. That's why I'm thrilled when it pleases someone else.

In 2006 I was awarded an Honorable Mention at the "Visual Harvest" art exhibit sponsored by the Gaston County Art Guild. Last year my work won third place at the Southern Arts Society show "I Am Woman".

I have done several Art shows and festivals, but the only things I'm doing for sure this year is the Cotton Ketchie Arts Festival August 22-23 in Mooresville, N.C. Also The Burlon Craig Festival October 18, In Vale,N.C.

Feel free to come visit my studio to just look or buy. My inventory is subject to change with my mood and available time. Just call ahead to be sure I'll be there! 704-518-2256
