Hi, and Welcome to the Holler! I have done gourd art for many years, more than I can say, and have tried to keep memories of it through the camera. I loved the gourds so very much that I co-founded, along with Catherine Watkins; Kathy Maddox, and others, the wonderful Georgia Gourd Society, back in 1998! I have to say, even tho the Society was my idea, without others, it would never have been!
Most of the art here came from gourds that I have personaly grown in GA. Cleaned; carved; woodburned; either painted, with acrylics/watercolors. Or stained, w/woodstain, and topped off with polyurethaine, to retain the finish, and keep the gourd looking good, as well as keeping it from injury when possible. I'm sure you have heard, "no 2 gourds are alike"? Ah but my friends, that is what make the gourds so amazing!
Please enjoy; if you have any questions, please feel free to email myself, or hook up to the GGS gourd links at the left of the pages. Have a gourd day! Jan Cash
