The American School Band Directors Association was founded in 1953 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. As an organization of school band directors, the ASBDA is recognized as one of high standards which serve to advance the school band movement in the United States.
Among the original Charter members of ASBDA were two gentlemen from the State of Tennessee: V. C. Adcock (Newport) and Wilkse S. Bobbitt (Erwin).
Currently, our chapter has 20 members and Jeff Phillips is the State Chair.
