Meet Bigfoot

Note: I am no longer updating this web site. You might like to check out my blog at Hairy Giants

Welcome to The Hairy Giant, a compilation of my views and my drawings of the creature known as Bigfoot.
See "Man o' The Woods" for my reasons for believing in the Hairy Giant and Check out my image gallery (photo albums).
These pictures are works of the imagination and may not look much like the real creatures. I try to represent as much as possible my interpretation of descriptions that I have read and eyewitness sketches I have seen. Here is a sketch done in 1977 of a sighting in 1942. It was posted by Bobbie Short on the Russian site Alamas and depicts two Himalayan Yetis, which are very similar to the American Sasquatch.
I have my own opinions about the origin and nature of Bigfoot (See "Barefoot Through the Snow") and "The Ape That Wasn't". I would like nothing better than to be able to go out in the woods with a camera and try to photograph bigfoot but I am an old man in very poor health and I'm just not able. Instead I just draw pictures. I don't do research and I can't follow up and investigate these incidents so if you would like them investigated you should check out my links, an outfit like bfro has field investigators that can do the job

Random Thoughts on Bigfoot

If they ever get the fence built along the Mexican border maybe they will catch a Bigfoot trying to sneak across. Catching an image of a Bigfoot in a government camera would be the best proof of his existence.

Previous to the 14th century, trolls and wudewasas were common in Europe. By the 15th century they seemed to have disappeared and were considered a myth. During the 13th and 14th centuries the black plague decimated the human population. I have no doubt that the plague also decimated the trolls. Unfortunately no one took note of it.

Humans and Wildmen have been in competition for hundreds of thousands if not millions of years. It would not surprise me if people have acquired an instinctive dread of these creatures (and they of us). This would explain a lot of the reactions of people when faced with these creatures. The hairs on the back of their necks stand up even before they see anything. This can be explained by the smell (which is not strong enough to be consciously noticed) affecting the unconscious instincts. Some people become overpowered by fear to such a degree that they even wet themselves. It might even explain why people refuse to believe in them.

Who loves a mystery? Only story tellers, fantasists and superstitious people love a mystery. Mystery is ignorance. I hate mystery. I love solving mysteries and I think that is what most people mean when they say they love a mystery.

There has ben a very exciting report on alabama bigfoot.com concerning an interaction with a bigfoot.I am in the process of drawing an illustration of it. I will put it on my site as soon as I am done.
