Based out of northeast Alabama, The DownTown Horns is a classic rock-and-roll horn band performing the greatest, most recognizable and danceable hit songs from the 1960's through today spanning many different musical styles and genres, including: classic and "oldies" rock, the best of today's pop, everyone's favorite country hits, Motown, rhythm and blues, soul, funk, a bit of bluegrass, a taste of jazz, a dash of disco and even a splash of beach music! The DownTown Horns' musical style and inspiration is derived from the legacy and tradition of the great horn bands from the 1960's, 1970's and early-1980's, such as: Chicago, Tower of Power, Earth Wind & Fire; The Memphis Horns, Blood Sweat & Tears, KC & The Sunshine Band, Kool & The Gang, Sly & The Family Stone and The Blues Brothers. Ever since the group's first performance in 1997, The DownTown Horns has been a band-in-demand, performing extensively all across the southeastern United States for events ranging from large outdoor concerts with superstar headline artists, to exclusive corporate conventions and parties, to elegant upscale wedding receptions, to smaller performance venues such as class reunions and weekend club dates. The DownTown Horns band has shared the stage with many diverse musical artists and headline performers, including: The Indigo Girls, Martina McBride, Sha-Na-Na, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Lynn Anderson, Billy Dean, The McGuire Sisters, Mindy McReady, Pat Boone, Colin Raye, David Osborne, Spoonful James, The Classic Rock All-Stars (former members of "Sugarloaf", "Blues Image", "Iron Butterfly", "Rare Earth", and "Cannibal and the Headhunters") and many others. The DownTown Horns' performance credentials also includes the very special invitation and honor to have performed for President Jimmy Carter's 75th birthday celebration concert and private reception gala party in Americus, Georgia in 1999. By performing a wide stylistic variety of music with a dynamic rhythm section, soaring harmonic vocals, and the incorporation of a powerfully HOT horn section, The DownTown Horns itself has become a hit with diverse audiences encompassing all ages, cultural backgrounds and discriminating musical tastes.
