COCONUT GROVE CLASSIC CAR SHOW AT BARNACLE PARK
June 19, 2011

It was a first or the British Car Club of Miami (BCCM), but definitely not the last! Today, the BCCM hosted an outstanding classic British car show in Coconut Grove's Barnacle Park and throughout Main Street. Thanks to Bryan's efforts, it was a perfect event. Twenty cars adorned the park and another 20 cars lined Main Street, captivating a crowd of hundreds with our British classics. Thanks to Coconut Grove's generosity, we were presented with goodie bags which included $10 in Grove Bucks, shopping discounts and a free barbecue lunch for the participants. With plenty of shade to cover ourselves, the heat of the day wasn't a problem making it easy to enjoy the beautiful scenery. There are many people to thank for this very successful event beginning with our very own Bryan for approaching and convincing the Grove's Merchants Association & Barnacle Park to give us this opportunity. We also appreciate the Barnacle Park employees & volunteers for making us feel welcome and comfortable throughout the day. A special thank you to all the merchants in Coconut Grove for allowing us to take over the streets for this show. And finally, a very special thank you to the British Car Club of Miami, Gold Coast British Sports Car Club & other classic car clubs that joined in the fun. Richard's 1977 MGB
EVERGLADES CITY - APRIL 16, 2011

It's been more than a year since the club took a long trip west to the sleepy little town of Everglades City. It was a glorious day for a drive and 10 cars set out from Denny's in West Kendall for the trip. We arrived without difficulty to enjoy a relaxing lunch at the local seafood restaurant. From salad bar to Gator Tails, the food was well worth the trip. After lunch, the group toured the island, a great experience for those who had never been to Everglades City before. Our final destination was the seafood store for stone crabs. After all, we couldn't leave Everglades City without stone crabs. As we began our departure, we had one member whos MGB wouldn't start and another with his brakes locked up. It was only a few minutes before both were on the road home. As we entered RTE41 heading towards Miami, we found our other members at a local bait/tackle shop. As it turned out, it was the AMERICAN car that was stuck - a broken fan belt. Of course, it was the British Car Club of Miami to the rescue as we helped get the Vette back on the road. That short delay didn't stifle our day and it ended as one of our most enjoyable road trips. Thanks to all those who were able to join in the fun. To see the pictures of our cars, please click on, "EVERGLADES CITY - APRIL 16, 2011."
