Supporters of the Southern Baptist Founders Conference believe that salvation is God's sovereign choice in election.

Many Southern Baptists hold the Abstract of Principles as their statement of faith. The Abstract of Principles was the first statement of faith used by the Southern Baptist Convention and is still held today by the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, as well as other Southern Baptist seminaries.
