This is a page under construction, dedicated to the hobby/sport/science, or whatever take you have on our study of birds. I have most recently added some shots from a trip to NC for a pelagic. The picture above is one of my fondest birding memories from quite a few years ago, a Variegated Flycatcher at Reelfoot Lake, TN, 1984. This was the 2nd North American record for this bird, the photo being taken by my father. At the present time I have a collection of albums from trips to Texas,Hawaii, and NC, and will be adding more local photos as time allows. I now have a collection of local (TN vicinity) shots of generally not 'everyday' birds. The quality of these shots varies, as some were at great distances. I hope, over time, to improve on the images for some of these species. I will update this section as I get new images.
All photos were taken with a digital camera. I originally, up until last fall, was using a Sony FD-97 Mavica, which was unfortunately stolen (along with some hard to replace shots). I now use a Nikon 4500 Coolpix, which is what all of the Texas and later shots were taken with. I shoot the Nikon through a Pentax PF-80ED scope, or a EagleEye 5X teleconverter. The Sony shots were through a Kowa 822 scope, or a Sony teleconverter. All digiscoped shots are handheld, although I hope to eventually get an adapter to allow me the option of mounting the camera to the scope.
Please email me with any comments/suggestions, and I hope you enjoy the pix of the birds a fraction of the amount that I enjoyed seeing them!
