July 21th 8:30pm TheGround Truth… This powerful documentary spotlights American soldiers sharing their experiences on the battlefield in Iraq and back home as they try to reassemble their lives. With aching honesty, these men and women discuss the anguish of war, the difficulties of readjusting to life after their tours of duty, post-traumatic stress disorder and the often callous treatment returning troops receive from the military and the Veterans Administration.
August 18th 8:30pm After Innocence…. With the emergence of DNA evidence, the justice system is seeing a wave of reversed criminal convictions. But what happens to those who are set free, sometimes decades after being imprisoned for a crime they didn't commit? Jessica Sanders takes a close look at some of these people in this gripping documentary that's both a harsh criticism of the current judicial system and a touching look at those profoundly affected by it. September 22th 8:30pm An Inconvenient Truth… Director-producer Davis Guggenheim (HBO's "Deadwood") captures former Vice President Al Gore in the midst of waging a passionate campaign -- not for the White House, but for the environment. Laying out the facts of global warming without getting political, Gore makes a sobering impression in this Oscar-winning doc on the audiences who hear his message, urging them to act "boldly, quickly and wisely" ... before it's too late to act at all. SEE YOU THERE!Feel free to call with any questions...Peace,

TRUE PATRIOTISM is an act of love, not of hate. It is debate not salutes, contributions not cheers, participation not prohibition, service not revenge. It’s the product of vastly different people with remarkably similar dreams, for it's not a primeval past or cultural similarity that binds us ~ but a shared present & future.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE AN AMERICAN NOW? *Click Here*
REAL PATRIOTS DO NOT PUT TROOPS IN HARM'S WAY TO SUPPORT FLAWED US POLICYIt is perhaps the greatest tragedy of our time to have missed the chance that America could have shown it’s TRUE GREATNESS, to have used our great power and prestige to help assure the success, for the first time, of the United Nations actually attaining a measure of worldwide consensus for resolving the Iraqi situation by peaceful means…what a blueprint for the future! But alas, we chose to resort to that familiar convenience, which we seem to turn to so indiscriminately: WAR Had we chosen to work together with the world community and the UN in forcing the Iraqi tyrannical leadership into submission, possibly without having fired a shot, there would be great cause to rejoice in our American accomplishment – but certainly not in the current calamity, no matter the outcome. War is such a colossal waste, indeed, a totally obsolete instrument for resolving the world’s problems. When will we ever learn?
~ THOUGHTS ON THE UNITED NATIONS ~ The symbolic value of the UN as an institution transcends pragmatism. The ideology of the UN reflects our aspirations for the world to be able to resolve & work together for the common good. One can judge our US democracy with the same cold eye (that some do of the UN) and see real flaws in it; elections and policies corrupted by money, legislation derailed by pork barrel politics and partisanship. Still, Americans would not dream of "ditching" our flawed democracy. Likewise, the UN is our best hope for a humane and peaceful world. We must believe in it as a "work in progress" and strive in good faith to keep it relevant. The UN can work only as well as its member nations wish it to. Those who want America to get out of this alliance don't have a clue about how much more dangerous the world would become with no UN. There has not been a world war since the UN came into existence. The UN is needed to help to prevent the globe from slipping into death throes underneath a chemical or radioactive cloud.
WELCOME FRIENDS!We are CITIZENS FOR PEACE of Cobb County, GA - (group is not aligned with any particular party or denomination - but we honor each citizens own free choice - the American Way)WE ARE DEDICATED TO THE PROMOTION OF PEACEFUL ALTERNATIVES TO WAR THROUGH PATIENT DIPLOMACY, DIALOGUE, UNDERSTANDING AND RESPECT FOR OTHER CULTURES, HUMANITARIAN EFFORTS AND ACTIVE NONVIOLENCE TO COMPEL NECESSARY CHANGE & PEACEFUL RESOLUTION TO CONFLICT What We Support ~ We are Americans who share the belief that Saddam Hussein should not be allowed to possess weapons of mass destruction. We support rigorous UN weapons inspections to assure Iraq's effective disarmament. We believe that a preemptive military invasion of Iraq will harm American national interests. Unprovoked war will increase human suffering, arouse animosity toward our country, increase the likelihood of terrorist attacks, damage the economy, and undermine our moral standing in the world. It will make us less, not more, secure. We reject the doctrine—a reversal of long-held American tradition—that our country, alone, has the right to launch first-strike attacks. America is not that kind of country. We can achieve the valid U.S. and UN objective of disarming Saddam Hussein through legal diplomatic means. There is no need for war at the present time. Let us instead devote our resources to improving the security and well-being of people here at home and around the world. WE HOPE THAT THE UNITED STATES AND OTHER NATIONS WHO TAKE THIS APPROACH CAN BEACON AS GLORIOUS EXAMPLES OF PEOPLES COMMITTED TOWARD POSITIVE INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS, WORKING TOWARD THE REALITY, ALWAYS, OF A PEACE ON EARTH.
